Did you know?

  • There are over 500+ kids in the foster system in the Wilmington area; it’s the 2nd largest number in the state with less than 100 foster parents to care for them. The average foster family in easter NC stops fostering after a year because of the challenges they face.

  • There are over 500,000 children with special needs in NC. An average family spends $80,000 a year on medical expenses for a medically fragile child outside of what insurance covers. These parents struggle in getting any type self-care because they are the only caregiver for their child.

  • There are over 100 children who have been waiting a year or more to be adopted into forever families in North Carolina.

Our Mission

The Restored Souls Foundation’s mission is to glorify God by providing restful experiences to families with vulnerable children. We want foster, adoptive, medically fragile and families with special needs to be encouraged and have their hope restored after going through difficult situations. Wrapping around those that need it most!

Goals

1. To provide families free restful and fun experiences so they are able to stay together when life gets hard.

2. To build or buy a retreat facility so families can receive the restorative services they need while staying with us

3. To restore hope to families by partnering with local organizations and giving wrap-around support when families need it most.

Our Story

The founders of the Restored Souls Foundation have had a passion for foster, adoptive and special needs families for the last 12 years as foster parents themselves. Recently in 2018 they met a little girl that was wheel chair bound with 3 other siblings and the foster/guardian family could not afford to take time off of work or from all of her therapies to go to the beach. These parents had a level of sacrifice for these foster children unlike anything they had ever seen. The vision was born; this family with this little girl parked in a spot where she could see the ocean, have her physical therapy appointments and give the parents a night off! They want these high needs families to feel restored when they return home, not just trip somewhere. The Restored Souls Foundation was started in the fall of 2019 in partnership with Seven Homes for Kids and became an official 501C3 non-profit in January of 2020. Its a non-denominational ministry. Psalm 23 became the verses for this vision because only God can take the hurting and the broken and bring them to a place of stillness and rest.
